Living Peace: Sheikha Fariha, June 23

On Monday, June 23, 2008, in Columbia University's John Jay Lounge, Sheikha Fariha al Jerrahi will discuss Sufism's approach to inner peace as part of the LIVING PEACE workshop series. Dean Peter Awn will introduce the session.

Sheikha Fariha is the guide for the Nur Ashki Jerrahi Sufi Order. She conducts spiritual and educational meetings for her dervishes in 16 circles around the world.

Peter Awn is professor of Islamic Religion and Comparative Religion at Columbia. He currently serves as dean of the School of General Studies.

A collaboration between CTICE and the The Tibet Center in Brooklyn, "LIVING PEACE: Spiritual Approaches to Achieving Inner Peace" is a series of seminars and workshops where teachers and leaders of different faith backgrounds will present their respective techniques for realizing inner peace. LIVING PEACE seeks to offer the New York City community practical exposure to different ways of achieving and maintaining inner peace, and promoting awareness of the importance of this state.

Sheikha Fariha's workshop on Monday, June 23, has been moved to Low Library Rotunda.  The workshop will begin at 6:30 p.m.
